Facts about Herbs

Herbs are leaves of aromatic plants and are rich in nutrients and minerals. They have very high medicinal values and can be widely used for colds, flu, coughs, pain and throat infections. Herbs can be added to soups, sauces, raitas, vegetables and cereals. They are used as seasonings and can help to reduce reliance on salt. Herbs can be used both fresh and dried. Fresh is always best but herbs can be dried and powdered and can be used for a long period of time. Do not overcook herbs. When they are overcooked they lose their chlorophyll and essential nutrients. Always cook on a low flame and to maintain the green color of the herb and to have maximum iron, add few lemon drops.
