Our hand automatically goes to meddle with the pimples on our faces.  Because of this, the pimples or acne increases in our face. There are many reasons listed for pimples like stress, sweat when gets mixed with dirt, people with oily skin or poor health condition.   • Keep your mind calm, get 8 hours of sleep and drink 8-10 glasses of water.
  • Eat vegetables and fruits rich in fiber and avoid junk food.
  • Applying little lemon juice on the pimple will help to remove the scars caused due to pimples.
  •  For itchy pimples, apply the juice of mint leaves.
  •  Rubbing peeled garlic on the pimple helps to remove scars.

The most crucial period for a child is this first year where the child has to be brought up with utmost care by the mother. Those who have old granny or mother or mother-in-law who are well versed with some simple home remedies for infants can have a big sigh of relief because these simple remedies takes these infants very smooth through this first year without any problems. But in this modern fast track world, following such home remedies are slowly getting washed away. Thanks to internet where we can still keep them alive. In this article I would like to share some of these simple remedies that have been followed by your mothers and grandmothers for ages for the care of infants. It is quiet natural for a mother to think that her child should live long happily without any disease. In the olden days the mothers used to prepare what is called as “Urai Marundhu” (home-made preparation with herbal ingredients) and give to their infants. Today’s mothers have forgotten or do not know about this home preparation with herbal ingredients. If it is given for the infants of 15 days – 1 month and up to 5-7 years, all the major diseases can be prevented.
Ingredients of Urai Marundhu:

There are the 6 ingredients of Urai Marundhu:
  1. Kadukkai Chebulic Myrobalan, Inknut
  2. Sitharathai Indian ginger or snap ginger
  3. Sukku Dry ginger
  4. Jathikai Nutmeg
  5. Masikai Gall-Oak or nut-gall

Health Benefits:
Dry Ginger
Kadukkai (Chebulic Myrobalan, Inknut): It helps in improving appetite, digestion and prevents loose motions due to indigestion. It helps the intestine, stomach and liver to function properly.
Sitharathai (Indian ginger or snap ginger): It is usually given to prevent cold and cough. It helps to get relief from chest congestion with phlegm.
Sukku (Dry ginger): It prevents gas formation, stomach pain, indigestion and vomiting. Most of the infants suffer due to colicky pain. What is colic in infants? Colic is inconsolable crying caused by digestive discomfort. Dry ginger helps to soothe the symptoms of colic in babies.
Jathikai (Nutmeg): Nutmeg in small dosages helps to reduce flatulence (gas) and aids digestions and improves appetite. Removes the unwanted crying among infants and gives good sleep.
Massikkai (Gall-Oak or nut-gall): Massikkai is good for digestion and gastric problems and increases the appetite of the baby. Masikkai also Helps the teeth to grow beautifully. Also helps in good urination.
Vasambu (Sweet flag): Vasambu and Kadukkai are called as “pillai valarppan” (agents which helps the child to grow). It helps to improve appetite, tasteless buds and laziness. Also helps in indigestion, stomach pain and chest congestion with phlegm.
How to prepare Urai Marundhu:
Take a big bowl and add 1 tumbler of milk and 3 tumblers of water. Boil the above ingredients in this in low flame till the entire mixture becomes half-a-tumbler. Allow it to cool and take out all the ingredients and wash it with warm water. Keep them in a clean plate and dry them in shade. Do not dry them in hot sun. It will get dried within a week’s time. Store this in a clean box so that it can be used regularly.
How to give Urai Marundhu:
There is special rubbing stone available in Indian Herbal Medicine shops. On this rubbing stone, first squeeze little breast milk. Rub the above mentioned ingredients (2 rubs for infants and can be increased according to the months up to 15 times) on this breast milk and make a paste. Apply this paste in the tongue of the baby. It can be given on alternative days or after giving oil bath to baby.
The alternate method is rubbing the above ingredients in hot water or betel juice or tulsi juice or omam juice (carom) or ginger juice and can be mixed with sugar or honey.
Hot water – Add little hot water and rub all the above ingredients in case of gas and chest congestion.
Betel juice, tulsi juice and honey – In case of phlegm and indigestion.
Carom juice with honey – loose motion
Ginger juice with honey – indigestion, fever and vomit.
The rubbed medicine has to be given very slowly to the infant. This home preparation with the above mentioned herbal ingredients is useful for the overall development of children and they are not prone to any major health problems later. Try this magic age-old preparation and benefit from them.

Cough and Phlegm

Cough and Phlegm is the most common condition faced by children and adults.  There are many simple home remedies one can follow at home.

  • Have a soup made out of garlic, tomato and onion regularly will reduce phlegm.
  • Take juice out of betel leaves.  Boil this and allow it to cool.  Apply this mixture on the forehead to reduce phlegm.
  • Boil dried ginger along with coriander seeds in water.  Drink this water lukewarm to get relief from phlegm caused during summer.
  • Dried ginger chewed along with sugar also helps in reducing phlegm.
  • Boil cloves along with crushed pepper in water.  Add honey to this mixture and drink regularly to get relief from cough and phlegm.

For Flat Belly

3.  Take 1 tsp of cinnamon powder and add it to boiling water along with honey.  After your dinner drink half of this preparation and keep the remaining half in the fridge.  The next day morning, take this preparation out from the fridge and after 10-20 minutes drink it in empty stomach.  This helps to burn the extra fat and best results can be seen after few months.

How can you delay your period


Here are some period remedies on how can you delay your period.  You may look for this when you have to attend an important function or some other compelling reason.  Early in the morning eat sabja seed in curd mixture and eat 2 bananas.  The chances are you may not get your period the whole day.  Another way is on an empty stomach eat a handful of raw fried gram and drink a cup of water.  You can have coffee or anything to eat only after one hour.  This way you can delay your period for a whole day.  However, period is a natural happening for women, so it is better that we do not try to stop anything that happens naturally, unless it is very compelling.  Anyways, these home remedies are better to follow rather than taking pills according to me.  I leave it your decision.  Happy womanhood!!

Lomon juice mask for all skin types

Lemon Juice for all skin types:

Oatmeal mask for oily skin

Oatmeal Mask:
Mix two tablespoons of unprocessed oats with a spoon of salt, then add a little water. Apply on the skin in a circular motion and then rinse with warm water.

Avocado mask for all skin types

Avacado Mask:
Mash a ripe avacado until it is creamy and smooth, and then apply a thick layer on the skin. Wait 15 minutes for the mask to dry, while at it, place two pieces of cucumber on your eyes. Rinse with warm water, then cold water, and leave to dry.

Banana mask for anti aging

Banana Mask:
Crush a ripe banana until it is smooth and apply a thin layer on the skin. Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry, your skin will be soft and smooth.

Yoghurt mask for oily skin

Yoghurt Mask:
Mix half a cup of yoghurt with yeast. Apply on the face in circular movements and leave it on for five minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Honey mask for all skin types

Honey mask:

Apply a thin layer of honey to moist skin and let it stay that way for five minutes. Carefully wash with warm water, then with cold water. Use a towel if the skin is still sticky.

Cucumber mask for dry skin

Cucumber mask:
Mix small cucumber roots with a cup of oatmeal and a tablespoon of yoghurt. Apply a thick layer on the skin and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash with warm water and dry.

Home hair cleanser

To make a home hair cleaner take one handful each of dried reetha, shikakai and amla. Soak them overnight in one litre of water. The next day, simmer the herbs with the water on a low fire till the water is reduced to half the quantity. Allow this mixture to cool and strain them using a clean cloth. Use this liquid to wash you hair regularly and get a beautiful and shining hair.

Get your eyebrows shaped right

If you are looking for a thick eyebrows, here are few points to look at;
  • Draw an outline for the eyebrows by using a soft pencil. Choose a color that is lighter than your skin shade. Trace the outline and fill in with black eye shadow or use an eye pencil.
  • Use a mascara to increase the thickness and add volume for your eyebrows.
  • If you have applied brow powder, apply a thin coat of waterproofing gel over this to hold the powder in place. This prevents smudging.
  • When you get your eyebrows threaded, do not go in for a particular shape, just get the excess hair removed. This gives a thicker appearance.

Do not take dandruff easy

Many of us think that dandruff is a white dead skin that gives an itchy and scaling scalp. Dandruff occurs mainly due to excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. For people who have dandruff problem, their skin cells mature and shed in two to seven days, but for people who do not face this problems, the skin cells usually sheds in a month. Though it is normal for skin cells to die and flake off, some people experience large amount of flaking accompanied by redness and irritation. This can also affect areas such as eyebrows, sides of your nose and the back of your ears. Sometimes, sensitivities to certain hair care products or hair dyes can cause a red, itchy, scaling scalp. During winters, the dandruff is a common problem faced my many, when not taken seriously may actually lead to the development of psoriasis. The use of anti-dandruff shampoos and anti-fungal creams on scalp can only suppress the conditon temporarily but does not treat them. There are some common homepathic medicines which have been found useful for dandruff treatment. Try consulting a homeapath before you take any homeopathy medicine. There are also some useful homeremedies which you can try from home.
  • Massage the hair with heated coconut oil or olive oil. Then apply lemon juice. After half-an-hour, wash with a baby shampoo. Repeat this twice a week till the dandruff gets completely reduced.
  • Keep your hair brush,towel and comb clean, wash with disinfectants once a week
  • Soak gooseberry in milk for one full day. Grind it well along with the milk. Now apply this paste to the hair and wash after some time. This helps in removing the dandruff effectively.
  • Grind urud dhal and mustard with water and apply to hair and wash after some time.
  • Put neem flower in gingely oil and massage hair with this oil to get relief from dandruff.
  • Another effective method is, Put hibiscus flower, shikakkai and neem leef in rice starch and heat it. Apply this to hair to remove dandruff.
  • Fenugreek seeds are also effective in reducing dandruff. Soften them in water and apply to the scalp every morning. After an hour or so, wash with soap nut. This will keep dandruff away and prevents falling hair.
  • The ingredients you will need are curd, honey and lemon. Use two tablespoons of curd and mix with three drops of honey and three drops of lemon juice. Mix together and apply to the scalp, leave on for fifteen minutes, then scrub for fifteen minutes.
  • Mix olive oil and almond oil and apply to scalp and leave on for five minutes. Once it starts to tingle rinse and shampoo.
  • Boil a handful of neem leaves in 4 teacups of water. After cooling and filtering, use for rinsing hair.
  • Before washing your hair, rub aloe vera gel into your scalp. Leave it on for 10 minutes, and shampoo your hair as usual.
  • Mix 6 spoonfuls water, a spoonful of lemon juice, half a teaspoon of salt and two spoonfuls of pure vinegar. Apply on the scalp with cotton wool. After shampooing, rinse again with vinegar water. Continue this for three months.
  • Henna mixed with old curds and lemon juice is also extremely effective in controlling dandruff. Make the paste a day before and keep on for at least two hours. Lovely burgundy highlights and dandruff-free hair guaranteed.

  • Garlic: Garlic gives a good releif from backaches. Garlic oil can be rubbed on the back to get a good relief from backaches.
  • Another way is to give a heat sponge at the back, but one has to be careful in doing this. Heat the dusk of wheat in a big vessel and make a bundle in a cloth. With the help of somebody you can give heat sponge with this at the back slowly. You can also use a hot water bag to get good relief.
