How to treat a defective vision

Here are some home remedies which you can follow to improve vision:
  • Increase the intake of food rich in Vitamin A like raw spinach, milk cream, cheese, butter, tomatoes, cabbage, soya beans, fresh milk, oranges and dates.

  • Taking carrot juice regularly helps in correcting defective vision.

  • Sungazing is another effective treatment for defective vision. When you go to a park, sit on the bench and face the sun with closed eyes for about 10 minutes. Open your eyes and blink for ten times while looking at the sun.

Cure for Common Cold

Here are some cures for common cold:

  • Squeeze the juice of a lemon in a glass of lukewarm water and add a tsp of honey. Drink it to get relief from cold.
  • Mix equal quantities of garlic oil and onion juice in a glass of water. Drink it 3 times a day to get relief from cold.
  • Make a ginger tea and drink or cut ginger to small pieces and boil it in a glass of water. Boil till it becomes half the quantity. Strain it and add a tsp of sugar and drink it.
  • Chop ladies finger and add to a litre of water. Boil the water and inhale the steam. Repeat this 2 - 3 times a day to get relief from throat irritation and dry cough.

Eliminate Ear Pain

Following are some home remedies which you can try to eliminate ear pain:
  • Put few drops of garlic juice in the ear which has pain. The antibiotic qualities of garlic helps in giving good relief from pain.
  • In raised altitudes, chewing a bubblegum or yawning helps in relieving the pain. This helps in opening the Eustachian tubes and contracts the muscles.
  • While swimming, before entering into water, put few drops of mineral oil on both ears.
  • Keep the paining ear warm with a warm cloth.
  • Basil leaf juice can also be applied as ear drops and gives good relief from ear pain.

Tips to protect eyes

  • For bright eyes, apply 1 or 2 drops of castor oil before going to sleep.
  • Put 2 drops of pure coconut oil for once a week for getting bright eyes.
  • Grind badam nuts with milk and put a pack with this paste to remove dark circles.
  • Doing eye exercises helps in maintaining good eyesight.
  • Cucumber pack helps in cooling the eyes.
  • For boils in the eye, apply basil leaves juice.
  • Potato pack also helps in removing dark circles.

How to remove Eye Tiredness

Close your eyes with your hand without leaving any gap. Make it completely dark, now while dark, move your eye balls upward, downward and sidewards. This exercise helps in removing tiredness from the eyes.

Closing eyes for 10 minutes and then continuing with the work also helps in removing tiredness from the eyes.

Giving a cold water pack for 10 minutes also helps in removing tiredness from the eyes.

Tips to stop baldness

Mix coconut oil and gingley oil and add fenugreek seeds. Boil this mixture and filter it. Using this oil regularly helps in stopping baldness.

Dry garlic in hot sun. Make it into a powder and mix with honey. Apply this mixture to the bald area to get good hair growth.

Facts about Nose piercing

In Indian culture, piercing is a very ancient practice. In olden days, both men and women used to get their nose and ears pierced. This custom of piercing the nose was brought to India in the 16th century by Mughal Emperors. Piercing is usually done in eyebrows, navel, nose and ears. One should take extra care to keep the pierced area free from infection. The pierced area should be cleaned with a germicidal agent. According to the belief in Ayurveda, a woman who gets her nose pierced experience less pain during delivery. Through piercing some vein is pressed that makes the child birth easier.

Herbs can be added to soups, sauces, raitas, vegetables and cereals. They are used as seasonings and can help to reduce reliance on salt. Herbs can be used both fresh and dried. Fresh is always best but herbs can be dried and powdered and can be used for a long period of time. Do not overcook herbs. When they are overcooked they lose their chlorophyll and essential nutrients. Always cook on a low flame and to maintain the green color of the herb and to have maximum iron, add few lemon drops.

Medicinal herbs and its uses

Basil: Basil contains Vitamin A and C and rich in minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. Basil has many medicinal values. Basil is used in the treatment of dizziness, nausea, stomach cramps, vertigo and constipation. Basil is also available as basil oil used in the treatment of cuts and insect bites. Basil is also an excellent remedy for bronchitis and colds.

Bay Leaf: Bay leaf is rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium and iron. Also contains vitamins A,B,C and E. Bay leaves helps in detoxifying the system. They are also used in the treatment of indigestion problems. Bay leaves can be used to treat stress and anxiety. Bay leaf is also available as bay leaf oil which acts as an good antibacterial agent. Spread some crushed bay leaves in the kitchen to remove household pests.

Mint: Mint leaves contains calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins like A, C and E. Mint leaves are used in the treatment of the following:
Indigestion
Colic pain
Heart Burns
Flatulence
Nausea
Headaches
Mint leaves also acts as a good appetizer. Peppermint tea can be given to soothe a dry throat. Mint is available as mint ointment which is good for headaches. Mint is also widely used as flavour for toothpaste and mouthwash.

Dill: Dill contains nutrients like calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous and vitamins like A,C and E. Dill is an effective appetite stimulant and helps to stimulate milk in nursing mothers. Dill is also used in the treatment of colic, flatulence and indigestion.

Parsley: Parsley contains essential nutrients like Vitamin C, calcium, chlorophyll, magnesium and vitamin C. Parsley can be given to anaemic patients as it helps to improve the blood quality. Parsley helps to improve digestion and is effective is reducing the blood pressure.
Oregano: Oregano is rich in calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium and vitamins like A and C. Oregano is very much recommended for cancer patients as it acts as an effective anticancer agent with its antioxidant and anticancer properties. Oregano also helps to remove intestinal parasites and can be used by people with indigestion problems. It is also very effective to treat nausea and diarrhea.
